SPM Janina is a three time Vigan City Councilor and an ex-officio Provincial Board Member of the Province of Ilocos Sur.
She was appointed as City Councilor of Vigan after a vacancy in the Council in 2011. She first filed her candidacy for the same position for the 2013 election but later on withdrew to focus on her health and family. Despite this, she continued to be active in civic organizations and was eventually elected Senior Sanggunian Panlungsod Member in the 2015 and 2019 elections.
She ran for Region 1 Chairman of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) and later on served as the youngest member of the PCL National Board during her first elected term. At present, she serves as ex-officio Provincial Board Member after having been elected as Provincial Federation President of PCL Ilocos Sur and is the Interim PCL Luzon Island Vice Chairman.
She anchors all her endeavors to “ayat ken serbisyo a napudno” or love and sincere public service, by initiating various projects and programs and crafting legislation that strengthen the modern family and prioritize the welfare and development of the less fortunate, the elderly, persons with disabilities, women and children. She is Inspired by her YLGG learnings and Sec. Jesse, she opted to devote more of herself to the society and pay it forward. She continues to be an active member of various local and national organizations that champion women, reproductive health, youth and more. Just recently, she launched The Under Lockdown Initiative which aims to empower targeted sectors adversely affected by the pandemic through socially inclusive responses and initiatives.
SPM Janina is a devoted wife and mother to a son and twin daughters and enjoy outdoor family time and the quiet provincial life.
