Last March 12, 2026, the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation (JMRF), in partnership with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Philippines, successfully conducted the final module of the Leadership and Governance (LeGo) Fellowship Program for Mayors. The session focused on the mayors’ key learnings on local people empowerment throughout the program and explored how these initiatives can be sustained in their respective communities.
Module 4 opened with a recap of the previous session, followed by an engaging reflection where the mayor-fellows shared insights and experiences gained since the start of the fellowship.
The fellows also heard from Gov. Arthur “Toto” R. Defensor Jr. of Iloilo, who shared the province’s initiatives and discussed ways to sustain people empowerment beyond political terms.
Following a lively Q&A session, the mayor-fellows presented their accomplishment reports, highlighting what they have done, are currently doing, and plan to implement in their localities to establish and strengthen their people’s councils. These presentations were evaluated by a panel of judges, who also offered valuable insights to help further enhance their initiatives for their communities.
We extend our sincere gratitude to KAS Philippines, our resource speakers, and most especially our mayor-fellows for their active participation and continued commitment to advancing people-centered governance.
